U360 Internship Virtual Capstone Competition & Reception w/Manomet
June 23, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
It’s time for our 2019-20 class of U360 interns to share what they’ve learned about sustainability and small business this year!
Each student spent six months interviewing small businesses nationwide about their current operations and practices, and using the information gathered through these assessments to evaluate the business’s level of sustainability. At this Virtual Capstone Competition, each U360 student will present their original Sustainability Action Plan for one small business composed of highly-researched, customized and practical recommendations for how the business could increase its overall sustainability. A panel of judges will ask the students questions in defense of their action plans, and then select a winner from each of our three state teams (MA, ME, and NH/VT) to be named Manomet’s “Next Generation Scholars” for 2020 and receive scholarship awards. Don’t miss this chance to see a dozen students from eight New England colleges compete over three days!
The event will begin at noon on June 23, 24, and 25 over Zoom, and the presentations will take approximately two hours. The three winners will be announced on June 25 at a special virtual ‘reception’ from 4-5:00 p.m. Drop by at any time for the presentations or during the reception (register here!)— you can pop in and out of the Zoom without disrupting the event at all!
Students will be participating from the following schools:
- Colby College
- Mount Holyoke College
- Suffolk University
- University of Maine, Orono
- University of New Hampshire
- University of Southern Maine
- University of Vermont
- Wheaton College (MA)
The full schedule of student presentations will be announced the week of June 8 and registration for the competition will open at that time. In the meantime, registration for the reception is now open for all who would like to attend. We hope you can join us to celebrate these exceptional students who are ready to make a difference in the world!
